Peace
Pentatonic Permutations is an algorithmic piano music composition by Benjamin Heidersberger that started with the Big Bang 13.799 billion years ago and will continue another 16 trillion years and then stop. Out of the 66 possible pentatonic scales, Pentatonic Permutations uses the Japanese 1-4-2-3-2 Kokin-Joshi scale, also known in India as Raga Vibhavari (Revati).
Each moment of time is tagged with a unique predetermined melody (no a.i. involved) that never repeats until the last permutation is played. The composition is synchronous and realtime. Each Pentatonic Permutations Player (PPP) and each computer are playing the same part of the composition. You are listening to the same notes in this moment of time as everyone else.
Pentatonic Permutations is the "soundtrack of the universe". It creates a mental network of listeners, helping you to find the same peace and silence that was, is and will be always in all of us.
Pentatonic Permutations is different, being ambient music. It is not distracting, you can give it as much attention as you want. It does not disturb your conversations and helps you to find and keep the peace that others experience as well. There is no advertisement.
Acoustic background: I have Pentatonic Permutations playing 24/7, even if I am not at home. I have a feeling this is cleaning the atmosphere of the room. I get good ambient sound with Echo Dots in stereo mode, invoking the skill (US) with "Alexa, Play Radio Peace". Activation and use of the skill is free.
Yoga and Meditation: This is the very obvious application for the slow notes with lots of rests.
Sleep: I found it very helpful to fall asleep with Pentatonic Permutations playing at a low volume and even while sleeping.
Time Memorial: With Time Travel you can go back (or forth) in time to a moment important to you and listen to the music linked to that moment. And you can come back any time and listen to the same notes.
Acoustic home: When travelling Pentatonic Permutations can give you a feeling of continuity and familiarity.
Community/Connecting People: People all over the world and from different backgrounds are listening to the same notes of Pentatonic Permutations.
User Configuration: While time and notes are given, sound and colour can be configured.
Realtime/Streaming: The Realtime version is generated and played locally on your device. It is synced to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) and is exact to the fraction of a second. UTC is the same all over the world (and on the ISS) regardless of the time zone. The Streaming version has a slightly better sound quality from a real piano (MP3 @ 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, CBR). It is generated 10 sec in the future so after buffering in the network it arrives more or less at the same time as the Realtime version.
Structure: Pentatonic Permutations is structured in sequences (= permutations) of 16 notes (= 16 seconds), the first five notes are always silent, and many rests (= silence). The sequences never repeat. They are perdetermined by the algorithm.
440/432 Hz: The Realtime version is tuned to the concert pitch of A = 440 Hertz, the Streaming version to 432 Hertz. Check out which is better for you.
User Participation: And then there are several ways to actively participate in the Realtime version by clicking on the wheel: Time Travel lets go go back an forth in time, Midi Out lets you attach your your music equipment and create your own version and Piano Roll lets you play on your own keyboard (piano or synth), maybe even improvise on Pentatonic Permutations.
